I have run the Angel 10/10 complex before and successfully tanked it with this particular Abaddon/Guardian combination. The first four rooms were on par with the Angel complex -- maybe a bit easier, because of the lack of damage distribution. The first room had a battle station with long-range webs, a turret, and a citadel torpedo launcher. Each Thor torpedo launched by this battle station hit me for 550 damage after resistances were applied, which was easily tankable. When I warped into the fifth room, I was immediately targeted by Station Ultima and webbed. As per usual 10/10 procedure, I shot the various battleships to draw aggression, and I was hit by Station Ultima for ~3500 damage after resistances. There are two important points to note about this. First, it's certainly a lot of damage. Second, it's about as much as The Antimatter Channeler does in the final room of the 10/10 Angel complex. So at this point, they are of approximately equal difficulty. 15 seconds later, my ship exploded, and I did not even have time to react. I was struck by a Thor torpedo from Station Ultima that took my max-skilled, gang-assisted Abaddon from 100% armor to dead. This torpedo: -Ignores signature radius -Cannot be speed tanked (as you will be immediately webbed) -Does at least 150,000 raw EM damage (could be any number, really, as damage stops being applied once you hit 0 structure)
This is absolutely ridiculous. Station Ultima does as much damage from its turrets as The Antimatter Channeler, and also webs whoever it attacks. In my mind, this puts it about on par with The Antimatter Channeler -- if anything, makes it harder, since an Assault Frigate cannot speed tank it.
Now, as a side note, I have run a fair number of Angel exploration sites. I have encountered Angel battle stations with all the capabilities of Station Ultima: webs, high-damage turrets, and citadel torpedo launchers. The difference is that the Angel stations do less torpedo damage by about a factor of ten (maybe somebody typoed and added another zero to the damage amount), and that a capital ship can enter these encounters (they cannot enter a DED-rated complex).
Now, if this is not a bug, and working as intended, I have to question why only Tech 2 Minmatar ships should be allowed to finish this complex. There is no other content in this game, that I am aware of, where a player is punished with instant ship loss for not flying a certain race's ships. Not only that, but why are other factions' complexes 100x easier? I know for a fact that the Angel complex does not do this, and I have been told that the Serpentis one also does not.
This seriously needs to be fixed.
